4月26日公益讲座-美国诉讼律师为你解读法庭制度

        美国不是法外之地,自由的背后是严格的法律。我们在美国求学,生活,工作,都有必要提前了解当地相关法规,真正深入体验这个国家文化和制度。经常见到来美国的朋友说:我不知道,我以前都这样。但是在严格的法律规范下,这些都不再能成为逃避法律规范的正当理由。

        在麻省, 小到处理交通罚单、应对租房纠纷(被房东驱逐),大到醉酒驾驶,或者是在酒精影响下驾驶 Drunk driving―or operating under the influence (DUI/OUI) 你的处罚很大程度是取决于你触犯了多少项罪名。你可能会受到来自RMV的行政处罚,同时也受到来自法庭的刑事处罚。还有因为男女朋友吵架,发生了肢体冲突,继而升级到了Battery and Assault 甚至是Restraining Order。很多时候因为我们人生地不熟、没经历过类似事件不知道应该向谁求助,或者因为担心花销太多不找律师咨询解决,最后因为没有找到正确途径反而让自己蒙受更多损失。

        波士顿安徽同乡会每次的讲座活动都是精心筛选,组织,力求服务大家的生活学习需求。本次公益法律讲座将涉及美国法律纠纷的方方面面:美国法庭的组织,诉讼程序等。(离婚,交通肇事,房东租客,法庭体系,以及刑事民事等)。

讲座嘉宾: 姜家律师  Gar Chiang esq  弗兰克律师 Frank Santisi esq

两位都是重量级嘉宾,非常不容易请到的法律专家。

        Frank Santisi 律师是波士顿学院法学博士,在麻省执业30多年的律师,曾担任区法院检控官(Assistant District Attorney) ,负责刑事案件的公诉。弗兰克律师在民事诉讼,刑事诉讼具有丰富经验。他代理的案件涉及知名的重大集体诉讼以及重大刑事犯罪等。( 弗兰克律师将用英文演讲)

        Gar Chiang 姜家律师为哥伦比亚硕士,麻省大学法学博士。姜家律师出生在香港,在美国长大且接受教育,曾在及波士顿,纽约,香港,北京多地的国际机构工作过,为其客户带来高质量的商业和律师经验。姜律师还是麻省法庭认证的专业中文翻译,可熟练使用普通话,广东话,台山话,英文。(姜律师将用中英文一起演讲)

Navigate Through the U.S Court System—

A Legal Lecture on Litigation/Disputes

Starting a new journey in the United States is not easy, and there are some obstacles that naturally arise in a new country and lega lenvironment. The tragedies of unfamiliarity of legal system of U.S have had lasting impacts on many who pursue higher education or an international life in the United States.

Some particular concerns include but are not limited to aneviction by landlord, an DUI/OUI charged by the police department, a battery or assault complaint, or even a restraining order. All these legal rules can make anyone’s head spin, but there is no need to panic if you have adequate knowledge of the U.S Court system.

You will be able to ask the lectures your legal questions during the free session: housing problems, fines, debts, car accidents,employment, discrimination, family law, domestic violence, and various complaints.

The Greater Boston Anhui Association is launching this free lecture open to public, to help you to navigate the U.S legal system. Thanks to MIT Chinese Students and Scholars Association for co-sponsorship.

Our lecturers are:

Attorney Frank Santisi and Attorney Gar Chiang

A brief intro:

Attorney Frank Santisi holds a JD from Boston College. He has been in practice for more than 30 years and has worked before as Assistant District Attorney for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Attorney Frank Santisi has handled numerous civil litigation cases and criminal cases including gross criminal cases in his practice. (Lecture language:English)

Attorney Gar Chiang holds a Master’s Degree from Columbia University of New York and a degree of Juris Doctor from Massachusetts Schoolof Law. Born and raised in Hong Kong and educated in the United States, Gar has worked in Boston, New York, Hong Kong, and brings his many years of professional and business experience, particularly his understanding of different cultures that help him better serve his clients’ needs.  (Lecture language: English and Mandarin)
